Wishing you all a very HAPPY & CREATIVE NEW YEAR!

January is here and I’m really looking forward to running my new creative workshops for 2017.

If you’d like to take part then do let me know via my contact page. The groups are very small with only 4/5 students, thus allowing for individual tuition time. December 2016

16th December 2016 / Tracey Ross

‘Heavenly Spray’ (above) is the title of this recent large scale work from the studio this month and I’m delighted to say that it has already found its way to a new home – just in time for the festive season! Also I have just heard that I have been selected to take part in the prestigious CLEY 17 next July/August – all very exciting!

November 2016

Thank you for visiting this month’s inspirations page. November has been a busy month preparing and working on several new paintings for 2017. The early morning light has been good for November, so far, but it feels as if winter has come earlier than usual! I have chosen this painting titled ‘Dark Sea embraces the Golden Shore’ as my monthly inspiration from the studio. This work was inspired from one of my walks along the Norfolk coast, the day felt dramatic and as I walked I noticed beams of sunlight flooding down onto spots of golden sand. This caught my eye, as they kept lighting up the shoreline and it was a moment I longed to capture!

September inspirations

Still enjoying the vibrant colours from my painting course in St. Ives last month. Here is a large painting inspired by the beautiful teal and aqua blues from the coast line of Cornwall. ‘Harbour Light’

This 100 x 100 cm large painting is now on show at the Hobart Gallery, Blickling Hall, until the 18th September. Exhibition is open daily 11-5pm. For more information do contact me via my contact page.

August inspirations

A burst of colourful fresh flowers to brighten up my studio dresser!

I love flowers especially fragrant lilies which I grow in pots in the garden.

August St. Ives Art workshop

Lots of inspiration coming from my trip to St Ives in Cornwall.

Really enjoyed a three day art workshop at the St Ives School of Painting where we sketched around the beach of Porthmeor beach every morning. The aim was to capture lots of interesting textures, then we started soaking the paper in pools of seawater before adding natural mineral dyes and sand! The results were quite liberating to say the least! After lunch we began working up the sketches into abstract paintings – this was the part where the work demands lots of letting go to push marks and ideas further.
