Winter Open Studios came and went in a flash! Thank you to everyone who came to visit and as this last month of the year draws to a close it’s time to reflect on what went well this year and how to make 2020 one of my best art years to date!
During this year I’ve taken three online courses and I must be mad as I’ve found it so time consuming trying to keep up with the content. So if you’re looking at taking any online course then it’s best to probably just take one at a time and really enjoy it. The first one I signed up to is by Matt Tommey called ‘Created To Thrive’ CTT’. I really enjoy the community feel of this course and Matt is very good at marketing and engaging with his audience during the Facebook calls. The second one is called CVP which stands for the ‘Creative Visionary Project’ by an American artist called Nick Wilton. Nick opens this program once a year in the early Spring and it is for those artists who feel ready for a change in their art practice. This is why I took it as I felt the need to move myself forward and to take more risks with my art. This course helped me to try abstract painting with some great results with one of them being chosen for the Holt Art Prize. The third one is an online group called the ‘Connected Artists Group’ run by London based artist Alice Sheridan. It is mainly for supporting artists with the business side of running an art practice and Alice offers lots of support and tutorials which I’m finding very useful. So if you’re looking to try something new then I recommend taking a look at all of them for yourself.
Meanwhile back in the studio I’ve been creating and exploring new ideas from my walks and sketches along the coast. These photos are all works in progress for my up and coming solo show at Salthouse Church on the North Norfolk coast in July 2020. If you’re already on my monthly mailing list then you’ll have first insight about it, and if you’re not already on there then feel free to sign up to hear about my events, workshops and experimental projects. Lots more about this in the New Year….

Wishing you all the joy of the festive season and a Happy and Creative New Year.
