It’s snowing as I write my February Monthly Inspirations from the studio. With grey skies and a strong north easterly wind it’s feeling very cold in here today! I’m not sure how long I’ll be able to work even with the electric heater on but the views over the Holy Valley are stunning.
The new ‘Light & Hope’ collection of paintings is now at the framers, they will be available to purchase at the end of February or the beginning of March and subscribers will have the first viewing. If you’d like to hear more feel free to sign up to my mailing list. To join click here.
As the lockdown continues I’m offering them as part of the Artist Support Pledge as set up by Matthew Burrows on Instagram. I hope this collection releases the light and love of my calling as an artist and helps to lifts ones spirits whilst waiting for spring.
Have you heard? There is an exciting opportunity coming up that I want to share with you…I went on to take the full course in 2019 as I was ready to learn more and I wanted to try something new. Artist and tutor Nicholas Wilton, is about to begin his annual Art2Life online course. The Creative Visionary Program or CVP is now open. Enrollment is between 19 – 24th February 11:59 Pacific time. Or until Thursday 25th Feb 7:59am UK time. There’s still time to join!
Thanks to my wonderful daughter for bringing this good cause to my attention.
I felt I wanted to help raise awareness so I’ve happily donated this painting to help support and raise money for @jamesplaceuk. James’ Place is a charity in Liverpool which helps to support men who are at risk, and may be suffering from anxiety and suicidal thoughts. I’m thrilled to hear that ‘Day Light’ 46x46cm was sold within two weeks of me posting it to them!
If you’d like to help support by donating an artwork please get in touch with me or James’ Place.
Happy 2020 and we’re halfway through January already. Today was one of the first really cold mornings, the primroses were all frosty and Saint Giles Church stood shrouded in mist.
As mentioned in last months inspirations I’ve taken several online courses and this year is about setting intentions and putting them into practice. Developing the business side of an art career is ongoing and I’m enjoying learning more about it. Those of you who have been following my work here or on social media have seen things evolve… so far I’m enjoying
Being an international artist with my paintings on show in Portugal
Enjoying one to one mentoring sessions
Running and teaching mixed media workshops on the Norfolk coast
Learning IT skills and developing my website
Being more of a risk taker!
A wonderful year of exhibitions is planned for the year ahead and I’m excited to announce my second solo exhibition at Salthouse Church on the North Norfolk coast opening in July.
‘Heaven & Earth’ exhibition at Salthouse Church 18th July – 2nd August 2020

This year is about developing a different approach to how l work, although it’s far too early to share these techniques at the moment. Here’s one tip for developing a richer body of work – try mixing colours such as Naples Yellow and Dioxazine Purple – now that’s an interesting combination of complementary colours. Try it and see!
Want to take some risks with your art?
Five new dates for my art workshops and they’re filling up fast. If you’re interested in joining me for a day of creativity click here to sign up to subscribe to my monthly newsletter.
More inspirations to follow next month…
