Delighted to say that I’m looking forward to opening my studio as part of North Norfolk Studios 29th May – 6th June. Time 10.00am – 5.00pm. I’m making an art trail with two other artists Nicholas Elliott and Vanda Richards. Nicholas Elliott lives in Fakenham and Vanda lives in Colkirk. I’m near Walsingham and we look forward to welcoming you. Social distancing measures shall be in place. I felt I wanted to help raise awareness so I’ve happily donated this painting to help support and raise money for @jamesplaceuk. James’ Place is a charity in Liverpool which helps to support men who are at risk, and may be suffering from anxiety and suicidal thoughts. I’m thrilled to hear that ‘Day Light’ 46x46cm was sold within two weeks of me posting it to them!

Christmas Open Studio Event

Bright crisp November days are here and there’s a chilly nip in the air. However, in keeping with the rich autumnal hues I have been inspired by the beautiful views around my studio and coastal walks, creating several new paintings for galleries here and abroad. Top tip! with shorter days it’s always challenging to keep ahead of the fading light during my painting sessions and it’s never a good idea to mix paint under artificial lights, mainly as they completely change the tonal values, so always mix enough paint to see you through!

Autumnal sunny October – a season of changing colours bringing fresh inspiration. The warm weather has been a delight to sketch in, especially after my sketching holiday on Patmos – a small Greek island where Saint John wrote ‘Revelation’, the last book in the bible.
Since coming back I’ve been walking and sketching in the dunes at Holkham and Wells-next-the-Sea, capturing the light and exploring different mark making ideas using Inktense blocks and pencil. Meanwhile back in the studio I’ve been working on finishing two new pieces for the Corte-Real Gallery in Portugal – more about this and other galleries on my News post. This exhibition explores the theme of LIGHT, inspired by my sketching walks where I enjoy embracing the beautiful light and colours of the North Norfolk coastline. Enjoy browsing through my sketchbooks and seeing a diverse range of mixed media paintings on display. Open every day 10.30am – 5pm. Exhibition continues until the 29th July.

After the reflections during the Easter break, it’s back to the studio happily creating new work for the annual Norfolk & Norwich Open Studios 2018. I really enjoy taking part is this event as it’s a wonderful opportunity to meet new and regular visitors. The free brochures are out and should be available in lots of shops, libraries and galleries around Norfolk as well as online. This year I’m enjoying working on several small scale 15x15cm paintings as well as showing a new selection of prints and greeting cards – everything is for sale! My studio is open 26/27/28 May 2/3/9/10 June. time 10.00am till 5.00pm. It is listed on page 33 of the yellow Open Studios booklet and my ID number is 113. Please come along and say ‘hello’.

I have been invited to host a solo show called LIGHT at Salthouse Church. I couldn’t think of a more stunning setting in which to express my faith and a spiritual connection calling me to sense the beautiful light of the North Norfolk coast.
The Private View is on Friday 13th July time 6 till 9pm. Join mailing list for an invite.
The exhibition will be opening daily showcasing my recent artworks, prints and cards. During the exhibition there will be a church service every Sunday morning at 9.45am followed by coffee/tea afterwards. On Saturday 21st July at 7.30pm a lively band called Cutting the Mustard shall be helping to raise money for the Church with a folk concert. All welcome. Tickets will be available on the church door. On the last day of my exhibition on the 29th July there will be a Sea Sunday service at 3.00pm and my exhibition shall close at 6pm.
